Total prize money on offer at the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar

FIFA have allocated a total of $440 million in prize money for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which is approximately Rs. 3630 Crore. 

This is an increase of $40 million or Rs. 330 Crores compared to the 2018 tournament, while $32 million or Rs. 264 Crores was increased from the prize money in 2014 World Cup in Brazil to the prize money in 2018.

Though this prize money is really big amount on offer, FIFA have a revenue budget of $4.6 billion in 2022, with broadcasting rights set to contribute $2.6 billion alone in income. 

How much will the FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup winners get?

FIFA confirmed in April 2022 that the Qatar World Cup champions will receive a record $42 million in prize money which equals approximately Rs. 350 crores.

This is an increase of Rs. 33 Crores or $ 4 million from the prize money on offer at the 2018 world cup. This increase is a continues trend that has seen the winners’ prize money increase significantly over the past 40 years. 

There was a massive increase in the prize money in 2006 when there was an increase of $12 Million or Rs. 99 Crores from the money offered to the winner of World Cup in 2002.
